GL Report Writer was developed as an add-on customization feature to supplement Visual Book’s standard financial reporting. This new capability will help you design and develop as many custom general ledger reports as you need to meet your custom financial reporting requirements

GL Report Writer Features

Design Constraints: Setup for reports with up to 13 columns.

Account Filters: Include Account Numbers, Non-Zero Accounts only, or Sub-Account balances.

Level of Detail: Toggle between Master Accounts Only, Headers and Totals Only, or Department/Division Detail.

Organizational Filters: Filter data by specific Divisions or Departments.

Layout Bands: Define custom Title, Header, Footer, and Summary bands.

Data Elements: Toggle visibility for Company Name, Report Title, and Report Description.

System Fields: Current Date/Time and Page Numbering.

Documentation: General Notes (text fields) and Border Line formatting (top/bottom).

Data Source: Choose between Actual balances vs. Budget balances.

Timeframes: Define ranges (Period to Date, Quarter to Date, Year to Date, or User Defined).

Date Logic: Set ranges as “Relative” to the report date or “Absolute” (fixed calendar dates).

Formatting: Debit/Credit representation and rounding to the nearest dollar.

Statistical Functions: Cumulative, Average, Maximum, and Minimum balances.

Variance Analysis: Variance of a single balance or the variance between two specific columns.

Percentages:

Percent of two specific columns.

Percent of Account Type (e.g., % of Assets or Income).

Percent of specific Account or Predefined ranges.

Row Definitions: Define rows by Account Number, Account Ranges, or Account Types.

Totaling Logic: Set rules for Group Sub-Totals, Sub-Totals, Totals, and Grand Totals.

Visual Spacing: Insert Header Text, custom Text Lines, Blank Lines, and Page Breaks.

Cleanup: Option for Zero Grand Totals.
